ORTHODONTICS/BRACES

Braces/orthodontics are a novel treatment that aims to straighten misaligned teeth. They place light pressure on the teeth, guiding them to the desired location. At Dream Team Dental our orthodontist may place braces on patients who have crowded or misaligned teeth.

Different Types of Braces

01

Metal Braces

These are standard braces used to treat misalignment in teeth. Brackets and bands are strung together with the help of wire and affixed on the teeth to push the teeth to their correct positions.

02

Ceramic Braces

These are standard braces used to treat misalignment in teeth. Brackets and bands are strung together with the help of wire and affixed on the teeth to push the teeth to their correct positions.

03

Invisalign/Clear Braces

A fantastic choice for adults as they are clear trays, are removable, and work effectively to move teeth. Because the trays are removable, they are also easier to maintain hygiene than traditional braces when it comes to brushing, and flossing.

Orthodontic Treatment

The initial appointment with the dentist establishes that the patient has superb dental health. Once confirmed by the dentist that the patient is able to move forth with orthodontic treatment, the patient is then evaluated by the orthodontist. The orthodontist will require specific x-rays to be taken and will further evaluate the patient. The orthodontist will develop a plan for the patient and explain the treatment in depth. Not all patients will be candidates for treatment. Once the plan is set and agreed upon additional records may be taken and brackets, elastics and wires may be placed. Brackets and bands are placed on a wire and tightened, which places a force on the teeth causing them to move.

Regular visits to the orthodontist are mandatory to continue evaluating the dentition and to tighten the appliance. Every patient will have a unique timeline and treatment plan. Once the desired outcome is achieved, the orthodontist will remove the braces and provide a retainer that the patient must wear according to instructions.

Hygiene While Undergoing
Orthodontic Treatment

Superb dental care is mandatory while wearing braces. Braces can act as a food and bacteria trap and it is paramount that steller hygiene is maintained. Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment and Dream Team Dental will be taught the correct method of brushing and flossing the teeth while wearing braces.
